Thursday, June 9, 2011

The competitive horological world gladly welcomes the new Zenith Captain Power Reserve watch.

A blend of aesthetic appeal and technical sophistication, the new Zenith watch employs a 40mm case. It is produced from steel or 18-carat rose gold. The top of the model is armed with a double-sided glare-proofed sapphire crystal. The sapphire glass is also used for its bottom. The case is built to be 50-meter water-resistant.

The timepiece is designed around an automatic Elite 685 movement, which measures 25.60mm in diameter. It is composed of 179 individual parts, including 38 jewels. The mechanism operates at frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 50-hour power reserve.

The movement is endowed with an anti-shock system and a stop-seconds system, which allows setting the time to the nearest second. It also ensures automatic winding in both directions, instant date change and rapid date reset.

The movement incorporates a central rotor on ball bearings and a metal oscillating weight with a guilloche work in a Cotes de Geneve motif.

The decorative elements of the caliber also include circular-graining on the plates, Cotes de Geneve pattern or circular-graining and chamfering on the bridges as well as strokes drawn on the hammers, levers and conveyors.

The new Zenith Captain Power Reserve watch boasts a silver or black guilloche dial. It indicates central hours and minutes. Small seconds are presented in the counter at 9 o’clock. The power reserve indicator is featured at 2 o’clock. The date appears in the aperture at 6 o’clock.

Completing the design of the new Zenith watch is a brown or black alligator leather strap.
