Seiko releases limited edition Golgo 13 active matrix EPD Watch in Japan

The Seiko Limited Edition Golgo 13 is an active matrix EPD watch. It is able to offer five different ways to display time. It also is able to display world time for 32 cities. And it comes with the signature manga character Golgo 13 in its unique time displays. The Seiko Limited Edition Golgo 13 Wrist Watch comes in two different limited edition versions. The SBPA009 will only be limited to 500 units while the SBPA011 will be available in only 1,000 units. They will be available on July 7 and will cost 57,750 Yen (US$725) for the SBPA011 and 63,000 Yen (US$791) for the SBPA009 model.

Seiko Astron, the World's First Solar GPS Watch

In 1969, Seiko introduced the first quartz watch, and now they are introducing the world's first solar GPS watch.  Using their own, patented, low-energy-consumption GPS receiver, the Astron is able to recognize all 39 time zones around the world to identify time zone and set the time and date data using the global network of GPS satellites.  The Astron receives the time signal once a day, and it can connect to at least four GPS satellites on command to determine the time zone and the exact time.  There are five models in the Astron line: three in “high-intensity titanium, which is stronger than stainless steel but has only 60% of its weight, and two in stainless steel. All have ceramic bezels, the same functions and high specifications, including a dual time sub-dial, in-flight mode indicator and sapphire crystal with Super-Clear Coating.”  All have ceramic faces and all have the same functions, and they're solar-powered so you don't need to worry with batteries.  The Astron will be available in Autumn 2012; no price information is available yet.

In for Review – Seiko 5 Sports SNZF45

As much as we love luxury watches with bespoke movements and astronomical price tags we also have a definitive soft spot for entry level timepieces that are both thrifty and fun to wear. This is the Seiko SNZF45 and it is generally called the “baby monster” as it was styled after the extremely popular Seiko SKX781 and 779 divers that have been carrying the “Monster” nickname for years. The Seiko Black and Orange Monster models are considered to be some of the best entry level divers available on the market and are generally a gateway drug for new collectors.

This Seiko 5 Sports model was given its infant nickname because it is not a true dive watch, boasting just 100m of water resistance and a crown which does not screw down. What this white-dialed Seiko lacks in marine-readiness it makes up for in price as this Japanese automatic can be had for less than $150 brand new and still features a stainless steel bracelet, Seiko’s 7S36B automatic movement, and about as much lume as Seiko can cram into a single watch. Very few brands with Seiko’s history and experience are making automatic watches at this price point. You can expect our review in the coming weeks and until then we will be giving this bargain Seiko a closer look to see if this deal is simply too good to be true.

Seiko introduced limited Hello Kitty Edition Watches in Japan

Sure there are many Hello Kitty watches available on the market but few of them are as elegant as Seiko's one! Lukia, the "luxury" women watch division from Seiko is proud to welcome two new limited edition Hello Kitty Watches with the "Pink Gold" SSVR080 and the Black SSVR081. The first model will be limited to only 2,500 units and sold at around 58,000 Yen, while the second one will only be limited to only 1,500 units and also sold at 58,000 Yen. Both models are waterproof (10 bar) and comes with an elegant "Hello Kitty" inspired signed box.

Seiko Delivers Ananta Automatic Chronograph Diver's Watch and the Sportura Alarm Chronograph

At Baselworld 2011, the house of Seiko proudly unveiled its new Ananta Automatic Chronograph Diver’s Watch and Sportura Alarm Chronograph.

The brand’s 130th Anniversary Commemorative Edition, the new Seiko Ananta Automatic Chronograph Diver’s watches gadget employs a 44 mm case. It is rendered in stainless steel with black and rose-tone gold hard coating. The front side of the model is covered by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The water-resistance of the case is assured down to 200 meters.

The new Seiko watch comes equipped with a black function-packed dial. It indicates central hours, minutes and seconds. Additionally, the display offers a 60-second, 12-hour and 30-minute chronograph counters, located at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock respectively. The date is shown in the aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock.

All the functions are brought to life by a 28.6 mm hand-wound caliber 8R39 movement, designed for diving. Set with 34 jewels, it beats to the rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour and supplies a 45-hour power reserve. The movement incorporates a balance spring in the brand’s proprietary SPRON610 alloy with upgraded shock-resistance and anti-magnetism.

The timepiece is mounted on a stainless steel bracelet. It terminates in an adjustable three-fold clasp with a secure lock and a push button release. It is issued in a limited series of 700 pieces.

The new Seiko Sportura Alarm Chronograph watch is distinguished by unrivalled functionality and strong design.


The novelty is set in a stainless steel case, treated with black hard coating. It is equipped with a screw-down crown. The case features a top glare-proofed sapphire crystal. It is held in place by a bezel, marked with a tachymeter scale. The water-resistance of the new Seiko watch is assured down to 10 bars.

Housed in the case is a black dial. It alternates silver and white Arabic numerals. The display of the new Seiko Sportura Alarm Chronograph watch indicates central hours, minutes and seconds. The chronograph functions are presented through 60-minute, 60-second and 12-hour counters, located at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock respectively. The 12-hour sub-dial is allied with the alarm function. The date is arranged in the aperture at 4.30.

The model accommodates a Caliber 7T62 alarm chronograph movement. The new Seiko watch is coupled with a stainless steel bracelet. It joins to a three-fold clasp with a push button release. The timepiece can be also accessorized with a leather strap, terminating in a stainless steel buckle.
